  1. GitHub pages + Gatsby + Cloudflare = Cheapest, effortless setup, full-featured personal blog. Costs less than 10$/year. Get 100/100 lighthouse score on all categories. No extra coding required. Edit your blog posts in markdown and insert code snippets. This is hands down best approach for hackers and hobbyists, to host a personal blog with beautiful typography and simple layout.

  2. I graduated with a master’s degree from a state university in 2017 and was working with STEM OPT on F1(student) visa. By early 2019, my H1B visa application got picked in the lottery and was being processed  at snail's pace by USCIS. I had to endure severe travel restrictions and I only had one more year left on my STEM OPT. Even after my H1B was approved, I decided to move back to India in June 2019. It's been a year since I moved back and I'm writing this post, so it'll offer you a point of view for making your own decision.
